How about potato printing today?

What you need
A potato
A sharp knife
Paints
Paper
Newspaper or a waterproof cloth to protect the furniture, carpet, pet dog from paint.

Unfortunately the preparation for this craft is the most time consuming part, and is not suitable for toddlers.
Cut the potato in half
‘Draw’ an outline in the cut surface, use a knife to cut out the shape from the edge of the potato. It might be easier to push a small biscuit cutter into the potato 5mm and cut towards it.

Put the paint into a flat tray, dip the potato in and print away.
You can wash the potato to change colours.

Older children may like to scrape a fork across the surface of the potato to make patterns, use a teaspoon to make hollows or criss cross with a knife.

You can also use carrots, an apple which gives you a pattern from the pips, an onion to see the layers, use your imagination.

Older childen may prefer to paint the colour onto the vegetable using a brush which stops the print being too splodgy.

Shall we sing some songs?

Let’s start by waving our arms in the air,
stretch as high as you can,
touch the ground.
Now we can start….

Hair and shoulders, knees and toes
knees and toes
Hair and shoulders, knees and toes
knees and toes
and thighs and calves and heels and toes
Hair and shoulders, knees and toes

Jesus’ love is very wonderful,
Jesus’ love is very wonderful,
Jesus’ love is very wonderful,
Oh, wonderful love!
It’s so high you can’t get over it,
So low you can’t get under it,
So wide you can’t get round it,
            Oh, wonderful love!

Previous weeks

We will be here next week, unlike the real world where we close for half-terms, we are going to carry on.
We are concerned for all of you, we know from conversations how difficult it is for some (maybe most) families and we are praying that you will have the patience, the enthusiasm and the love that you need each day.
If you would like to talk to someone outside of your four walls, please send us your phone number and we will ring you back or text whichever you prefer.
If you prefer to contact a counsellor text Shout to 85258 or the Bower House in MH is offering phone support.
With love from Jane, Jenny, Liz, Susie, Vikki, Eleanor and Gwen
