Hello again,

This is the last week in the January bags, please let us know today or tomorrow (30th) if you would like one for February.
We are not going to be able to get the gazebo out and see you all as you collect the bags in February so we will be using our usual collection points. (see the bottom of the page).

This week we are making owls, I don’t know if you are planning to take part in the Great British Birdwatch this weekend, but the RSPB website has lots of information about birds and shows you how to encourage birds into your garden. I’m not sure that you will end up with owls in the garden though, unlike Susie who lives in the countryside and who has made this week’s activity for us.

What shall we make today?

When I am outside with my dog at night and it’s dark I often hear an owl.
It sounds like twit twooooo

You will need some glue and the pieces in the envelope.
Stick the brown tree part along the bottom of your paper and add some of the green leaves to the tree.

Put some glue on the orange oval shape and put it on the tree branch.
Put the figure of 8 shape on to the top of the oval shape. Let it overlap, this bit is the head.
Stick on the white circles for the eyes
Stick the yellow circles onto the white eye circles. Put some black spots in the middle of the yellow eye circles.
Stick on the yellow triangle shape for the beak.

Stick on the blue wings, one on each side of the owl’s body.

THANK YOU
For the donations you have given us when you have picked up the bags. We have been able to send £135 to HomeStart South Leicestershire

Stick the 2 red feet at the bottom of the body so your owl is standing on the branch….he needs to hold on tight or he might fall off!  If you want to you could draw feathers onto your owl’s body or if you found some feathers when you are outside you could maybe stick those on the wings.

There are some great owl jokes on the Beano website.

Time for singing

Hair and shoulders, knees and toes
knees and toes
Hair and shoulders, knees and toes
knees and toes
and thighs and calves and heels and toes
Hair and shoulders, knees and toes

When all the cows were sleeping
And the sun had gone to bed
Up jumped the scarecrow
And this is what he said
Chorus:
I’m a dingle, dangle scarecrow
With a great big floppy hat
I can shake my hands like this
And I can shake my feet like that

When all the hens were roosting
And the moon behind a cloud
Up jumped the scarecrow
And shouted very loud
Chorus
When dogs were in the kennels
And doves were in the loft
Up jumped the scarecrow
And whispered very soft
Chorus

See the little bunnies sleeping till it’s nearly noon
Shall we wake them with a merry tune?
They’re so still, are they ill?
No! Wake up bunnies!
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop, hop, hop
Hop little bunnies, hop and stop

Happy Birthday

This week we have two birthdays

Rupert is going to be four

Autumn Rose is going to be three.

We hope that you have a lovely day and find special things to do.
Let us know your child’s birthday so we can add them to our list.

Don’t forget to let us know about the February activity bags and if you can send us a photo of your owls we would love to see them.

Vikki, Nikki, Jane, Susie, Liz and Jenny
