Hello everyone, I hope that you are having a good day and are ready to do some Friday morning things, or whatever day it is when you look at this page!

It is our harvest service at church this Sunday morning, when we give thanks to God for the food we eat and for farmers and the work they do.

Part of giving thanks involves sharing with people who don’t as much and so we are all donating items for the foodbank.

Take a bit of time this week to think about what you are eating and being thankful.

Don’t forget we love to hear from you (try the buttons at the bottom of the page).

Vikki, Susie, Nikki, Liz, Jenny and Jane.

What shall we make today?

What you need (if you have a bag you will have all these things except an egg shell)
Egg cup
Eyes (there is glue in the bag)
Seeds  (in green packet, cut the corner to sow the seeds)
Cotton wool
Red card to make a mouth
Egg shell (well washed and dried) – if you don’t have an egg shell you could use a small yoghurt pot, or lay the seeds on a piece of kitchen roll on a saucer
Felt tip/paint to decorate small egg cups (if you have a shiny egg cup you won’t be able to paint it but you could stick shapes on it)
Be aware that seeds and eyes can be hazardous for under 3’s, supervise at all times.
· Make a face on the clean shell, using eyes and the red card, you may like to use paints as well. Don’t create any hair.
· Put the cotton wool into the shell add a teaspoon of water.
· Cut the corner off the green seed packet and pour into the shell.
· Put the egg onto the egg cup to keep it upright!
· Cover the shell with a piece of paper until the seeds begin to sprout (1or 2 days) or put it in a dark cupboard.
· Put the shell in a sunny place and watch the hair grow.
· Remember to keep the cotton wool damp.
· Don’t forget to eat the cress, maybe in an egg sandwich.

Usually at Harvest our church is full of fruit and vegetables.

Why not play a game trying to find a rainbow of food in your house or the supermarket? Red is easy with tomatoes or peppers, but I think it gets harder.

With older children you could look at a map and work out which food has travelled furthest.

Time for singing

We always begin by stretching and curling up, shaking our fingers and shaking our toes.

Hair and shoulders, knees and toes
knees and toes
Hair and shoulders, knees and toes
knees and toes
and thighs and calves and heels and toes
Hair and shoulders, knees and toes

There are lots of songs about farms and harvest which we will share this month.

This week we will sing about Mr MacDonald’s farm not the zoo

Old MacDonald had a farm
E I E I O
and in that farm he had a …………
E I E I O
with a ……… here
and a ……… there
here a …….
there a ……….
everywhere a ………
Mr MacDonald had a farm
E I E I O
What shall we have? How about sheep, pigs and chickens?

Oats and beans and barley grow
Oats and beans and barley grow,
Not you, nor I, nor anyone know,
How oats and beans and barley grow.

First the farmer sows the seed,
Then he stands and takes his ease,
Stamps his feet and claps his hand,
And turns around to view the land.

If you don’t know this song, the BBC website has a video of it, and lots of others songs as well

Happy birthday to Louie, Alfie, Beatrix and Arthur who all have birthdays this week.
If you are new to Toddlers’ online, send us your child’s birthday and we will add them to the list.

We hope that you have enjoyed using the first week of the bag, we would love to see your photos of your egg head. I will put a photo of mine on Facebook and if you can add yours to that it would be brilliant, or please tag us (mhcc_families) if you put it on instagram, or DM us.

If you missed out on a bag for this month, please email us as soon as possible to reserve one for November, they will be available on 6th and 7th November.
