A favourite reading and songs which have spoken to us from recent months.

My lighthouse

Psalm 46

God is our refuge and strength,
    an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
    and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
    and the mountains quake with their surging.

There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
    the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
    God will help her at break of day.
Nations are in uproar, kingdoms fall;
    he lifts his voice, the earth melts.

The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Come and see what the Lord has done,
    the desolations he has brought on the earth.
He makes wars cease
    to the ends of the earth.
He breaks the bow and shatters the spear;
    he burns the shields[d] with fire.
10 He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God;
    I will be exalted among the nations,
    I will be exalted in the earth.’

11 The Lord Almighty is with us;
    the God of Jacob is our fortress.

Lord God,
We praise you and thank you for your presence in these days.
We give thanks for all those who have helped us, supported and encouraged us.
We give thanks for Stephen and his ministry in this church.
We give thanks for the Jubilee Foodbank, for all of the volunteers who have stepped forward at a time when they were needed.
We pray for all those who have received a parcel, that as well as a practical gift it has been a sign that they are not forgotten.
We pray for all of the families that would normally be at Toddlers’ Club on Friday morning, we pray that parents and grandparents will have the patience and energy and love to share with their children.
We pray for those who would normally be at Open Door, Concern, Tea at Two and the Men’s Group, Lord give them an awareness of your presence, especially in the lonely hours.
Lord we thank you that we are not alone,
as we meet with family for the first time,
as we grieve our losses,
as we face uncertainty,
YOU ARE WITH US
We praise you and worship you.
Amen

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name;
thy kingdom come;
thy will be done;
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation;
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen.

A blessing for the United Kingdom.

My Lighthouse
In my wrestling and in my doubts,
In my failures You won’t walk out.
Your great love will lead me through,
You are the peace in my troubled sea.

In the silence, You won’t let go;
In the questions, Your truth will hold.
Your great love will lead me through,
You are the peace in my troubled sea.

My lighthouse, my lighthouse,
Shining in the darkness,
I will follow You.
My lighthouse, my lighthouse,
I will trust the promise
You will carry me safe to shore.

I won’t fear what tomorrow brings,
With each morning I’ll rise and sing;
My God’s love will lead me through,
You are the peace in my troubled sea.

My lighthouse, my lighthouse, …

Fire before us, You’re the brightest,
You will lead us through the storms;
Fire before us, You’re the brightest,
You will lead us through the storms.

My lighthouse, my lighthouse, …

The Blessing
The Lord bless you
And keep you Make His face shine upon you
And be gracious to you
The Lord turn His Face toward you And give you peace
As we receive, we agree, amen Chorus —  Amen, amen, amen
Bridge — May His favor be upon you
And a thousand generations
And your family and your children
And their children, and their children
May His presence go before you
And behind you, and beside you
All around you, and within you
He is with you,
He is with you
