Thank you for joining us this morning, over these last nineteen Sundays we have joined together despite our separate locations, we pray that these services have been a blessing to you. It has been lovely to be joined by people across the country and the world.
We give thanks for the technology which has enabled this and for the willingness of our people to try new things. The services will no longer be pre-recorded so there will be a difference in our pattern from 16th August, more information to follow.

If sharing with us has been the beginning of your journey to faith, or has helped you to reconnect, please keep travelling, with us, or with a local church as we all move into our buildings. You can contact our Minister Stephen by email.

If you are new to watching things on line…..
At each stage in the service there is a triangular play button you will need to click, either in the image of the song or on the left hand side of the black bar.

If you can’t hear check the loudspeaker symbol at the bottom right of your screen on a computer or the buttons on the side of your tablet or phone, and adjust the volume.

There are links to the hymns on YouTube, you may get an advert – you can press skip ad on the right hand side of the video.

If the video continues to another song you can stop it by clicking on or tapping the video screen. If you regularly use YouTube you will also have a button called ‘Autoplay’ probably on the right hand side of the screen (not in the video) make sure that is set to off.

The words of the Bible readings and hymns are at the bottom of the page. The call to worship and the collect are below the audio link.

Thank you for joining us today, if you would like to get in touch with us, you can email. Stephen is having a few days off but will pick up emails when he returns.

HYMN ‘Everyday God’

Welcome, Call to Worship, Opening Prayer, Church News, Children’s Talk

Call to Worship – from Psalm 98
Sing a new song to the Lord,
he to whom wonders belong;
rejoice in his triumph and tell of his power,
O sing to the Lord a new song.

Sing a new song and rejoice,
publish his praises abroad;
let voices in chorus, with trumpet and horn,
resound for the joy of the Lord.

Sermon, Prayers, Dedication, Blessing

Collect
Almighty God, you created the heavens and the earth,
and made us in your image,
Teach us to discern your hand
in all your works
and to serve you
with reverence and thanksgiving;
through Jesus Christ our Lord,
who is alive and reigns
with you and the Holy Spirit,
one God, now and for ever.  Amen.

HYMN Misson Praise ‘My life flows on in endless song’

Isaiah 42:5-9

This is what God the Lord says –
the Creator of the heavens, who stretches them out,
    who spreads out the earth with all that springs from it,
    who gives breath to its people,
    and life to those who walk on it:
‘I, the Lord, have called you in righteousness;
    I will take hold of your hand.
I will keep you and will make you
    to be a covenant for the people
    and a light for the Gentiles,
to open eyes that are blind,
    to free captives from prison
    and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness.

‘I am the Lord; that is my name!
    I will not yield my glory to another
    or my praise to idols.
See, the former things have taken place,
    and new things I declare;
before they spring into being
    I announce them to you.’

Mark 2:13-22

Jesus calls Levi and eats with sinners
13 Once again Jesus went out beside the lake. A large crowd came to him, and he began to teach them. 14 As he walked along, he saw Levi son of Alphaeus sitting at the tax collector’s booth. ‘Follow me,’ Jesus told him, and Levi got up and followed him.
15 While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. 16 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: ‘Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?’
17 On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but those who are ill. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’
Jesus questioned about fasting
18 Now John’s disciples and the Pharisees were fasting. Some people came and asked Jesus, ‘How is it that John’s disciples and the disciples of the Pharisees are fasting, but yours are not?’
19 Jesus answered, ‘How can the guests of the bridegroom fast while he is with them? They cannot, so long as they have him with them. 20 But the time will come when the bridegroom will be taken from them, and on that day they will fast.
21 ‘No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. Otherwise, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. 22 And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. Otherwise, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins.’

HYMN ‘Everyday God’

Earth’s creator, Everyday God,
Loving Maker, O Jesus,
You who shaped us, O Spirit,
Recreate us, Come, be with us.

In your presence, Everyday God,
We are gathered, O Jesus,
You have called us, O Spirit,
To restore us, Come, be with us.

Life of all lives, Everyday God,
Love of all loves, O Jesus,
Hope of all hopes, O Spirit,
Light of all lights, Come, be with us.

In our resting, Everyday God,
In our rising, O Jesus,
In our hoping, O Spirit,
In our waiting, Come, be with us.

In our dreaming, Everyday God,
In our daring, O Jesus,
In our searching, O Spirit,
In our sharing, Come, be with us.

God of laughter, Everyday God,
God of sorrow, O Jesus,
Home and shelter, O Spirit,
Strong and patient, Come, be with us.

Way of freedom, Everyday God,
Star of morning, O Jesus,
Timeless healer, O Spirit,
Flame eternal, Come, be with us.

Word of gladness, Everyday God,
Word of mercy, O Jesus,
Word of friendship, O Spirit,
Word of challenge, Come, be with us.

Gentle father, Everyday God,
Faithful brother, O Jesus,
Tender sister, O Spirit.
Loving mother, Come, be with us.

Our beginning, Everyday God,
Our unfolding, O Jesus,
Our enduring, O Spirit,
Journey’s ending, Come, be with us.

Alleluia, Everyday God,
Now and always, O Jesus,
Alleluia, O Spirit,
Through all ages, Come, be with us.

SONG Mission Praise 254 ‘I am a new creation’

I am a new creation,
No more in condemnation,
Here in the grace of God I stand.

My heart is overflowing,
My love just keeps on growing,
Here in the grace of God I stand.

And I will praise You Lord,
Yes, I will praise You Lord,
And I will sing of all that You have done.

A joy that knows no limit,
A lightness in my spirit,
Here in the grace of God I stand.

HYMN Mission Praise 94 ‘Come let us sing of a wonderful love’

1 Come let us sing of a wonderful love,
tender and true;
out of the heart of the Father above,
streaming to me and to you:
wonderful love
dwells in the heart of the Father above.

Jesus, the Saviour, this gospel to tell,
joyfully came;
came with the helpless and hopeless to dwell,
sharing their sorrow and shame;
seeking the lost,
saving, redeeming at measureless cost.

Jesus is seeking the wanderers yet;
why do they roam?
Love only waits to forgive and forget;
home! weary wanderer, home!
Wonderful love
dwells in the heart of the Father above.

Come to my heart, O thou wonderful love,
come and abide,
lifting my life till it rises above
envy and falsehood and pride:
seeking to be
lowly and humble, a learner of thee.

Robert Walmsley (1831-1905)

HYMN Mission Praise 1210 ‘My life flows on in endless song’

My life flows on in endless song,
Above earth’s lamentation.
I hear the sweet, though far-off hymn
That hails a new creation.

Through all the tumult and the strife,
I hear the music ringing.
It finds an echo in my soul—
How can I keep from singing?

What though my joys and comforts die?
The Lord my Saviour liveth.
What though the darkness gather round?
Songs in the night He giveth.

No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging.
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?

I lift my eyes the cloud grows thin.
I see the blue above it.
And day by day this pathway smoothes,
Since first I learned to love it,

The peace of Christ makes fresh my heart,
A fountain ever springing.
All things are mine since I am his—
How can I keep from singing?

No storm can shake my inmost calm
While to that refuge clinging.
Since Christ is Lord of heaven and earth,
How can I keep from singing?
